Flood Warning

Event: Hydrologic Outlook

Alert: Thunderstorms are likely overnight across far northern Illinois, with more rounds of storms possible in this area later this week. With the very humid air mass in place, any storms will be able to produce heavy rainfall. While there remains fairly high uncertainty in placement of storms within the region from Thursday night through Saturday, there is some signal that along and north of Interstate 88 in northern Illinois and into Wisconsin may be the most favored. Given wet antecedent conditions over the Des Plaines, Fox, and north branch of the Chicago River basins, this portion of far northeast Illinois is susceptible to additional flooding if multiple rounds of heavy rainfall were to pan out.

Those with hydrologic concerns in that area should maintain a close watch on the rainfall and river stage forecasts which will become gradually more refined with time.
