Graduating Antioch Community High School student Kennedy Hettlinger is encouraged by Antioch police officers Jared Brussaly and Dawn Geraty along with a multitude of her fellow ACHS students as she donates to the Special Olympics Illinois 'Cop on a Rooftop' event on the last day of school, Friday, May 20.

Update – May 24: We are happy to announce a very successful Cop on a Rooftop event. Thanks to the residents of Antioch, as well as the scores of volunteers who worked diligently to make this event happen, we were able to raise $4,122.43 for Special Olympics! Thank you to all who stopped by to support us in this worthy cause, and thank you to Dunkin’ Donuts for their continued support. It’s through our strong community connections that we are able to make a difference, one event at a time.

Antioch police officers once again walked from their headquarters across the street to the conveniently (and coincidentally?)located Dunkin’ Donuts at 442 Orchard St. on Friday, May 20 to participate in the 14th annual "Cop on a Rooftop" event.

The force was one of many in Illinois who joined with over 230 participating Dunkin' Donuts statewide in order to raise funds for the Law Enforcement Torch Run which benefits the Special Olympics.

Their efforts proved to be a success as Special Olympics Illinois reported over $600,000 being collected, easily topping the over $500,000 raised last year.

The event ran from 5:00AM-2:00PM. Anyone making a donation to the Special Olympics received a coupon for a free donut at Dunkin’ Donuts. For more information on this Special Olympics Illinois event, contact Sandy Nash at snash@soill.org or call 1-800-394-0562 or visit the Special Olympics Illinois website.

Congratulations to all who volunteered and who helped make the event a success again this year!
